DRAIN YOUR FRUIT FLIES

Do you have fruit flies and you feel that you just can’t get rid of them? You might want to check the drains on your kitchen sink, this is a favorite place for fruit flies to congregate. Try covering your drains with something that is transparent like a large glass, or mason jar or even some Tupperware. If you see fruit flies flying inside then try boiling some water and pouring it down the drain, or you could use some drain cleaner. This is one of the best ways to get rid of fruit flies.

GET RID OF THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM

Start from the beginning. A good way to deal with a household pests is to eliminate what they live on. One reason you may have a problem is because your house provides food, water or shelter for a pest. Look for sources of food, water and entry points to your home, and block, fill, dispose of, or eliminate them right at the source.

HAIRSPRAY – NOT JUST FOR ELVIS IMPERSONATORS

Summer is here and that means the return of the flying beasts, ok well maybe beasts is a little bit strong but pests nonetheless. A great way to get rid of the flying pests (ie. wasps, bees, flies, gnats and other winged beasts) is hairspray. Yes that is right hairspray. It’s a fantastic way to stop flying pests, it can immobilize them almost instantly. These kinds of sprays are filled with chemical additives and they can eliminate bugs on the spot, while keeping additional ones at bay.

TERMITES STINK LITERALLY

Do you want to know whether or not termites are in your home? You can actually hire a trained dog to locate them. Yeah I know, crazy right? But these amazing “doggos” actually exist and they are much more effective than humans at locating termites. Humans can only check about 30% of your home’s surface area for termites. A well-trained, termite sniffing dog can find all of them. Trained dogs have an amazing nose that can detect methane gas created by termites as they eat the wood of your home. I know, the things you learn right?

WATER IS LIFE

Pests are extremely attracted to standing water which makes it a great practice to look for any stagnant water around the house.  Look for leaky pipes or trays that are holding your indoor plants all these can accumulate water and attract pests. Keep in mind that like us, pests require water in order to live. Therefore, if you eliminate water from your home, pests will have no choice but to leave.

FLEAS SUCK

While fleas are difficult creatures, some things do work to eliminate them and their eggs. The first thing you should do is vacuum thoroughly every day. Secondly, you must spray with a good flea spray. Be sure you get rid of the bag in your vacuum after you vacuum up the home.

MINT & MICE

If you are trying to get rid of mice, mint may help. Mint plants surrounding your home’s foundation helps out greatly, mice do not like mint. If mice are living in your home, you can sprinkle mint leaves all around the area where you see signs of mice. Make sure that the mint leaves are fresh.
